LJS Tournament
This is an annual tournament hosted by Sheffield Utd Captain Billy Sharp. The referees are provided by Sheffield RA and used as a mentoring opportunity. 2023 will see the 10th anniversary of the event so watch this space for more details.
Referee Mascot
Supported by the EFL and PGMOL, this is a great local initiative for U18 referees. This has been supported in the past by Sheffield Wednesday, then most recently Jake Rhodes became the first “Ref Mascot” at Sheffield United. It is a fantastic opportunity for young referees, who gained an insight into the life of a Championship Referee and their team.
Jake spent time with the match officials before the game, learning about all pre-match duties including testing the goal line technology.
All Sheffield RA members under the age of 18 can apply for this and are chosen based on their commitment and role as a referee. Opportunities are limited so join now and you may be the next Ref Mascot!
